Eisai has launched LEQEMBI (lecanemab) in India after receiving CDSCO approval, introducing the country's first disease-modifying therapy for early Alzheimer's disease. The treatment is indicated for patients with mild cognitive impairment and mild dementia and aims to slow disease progression.
The CDSCO has released new guidelines including a “flush list” of medicines that can be safely disposed of down the toilet to prevent misuse. It also urges State authorities to organise Drug Take Back programs under Biomedical Waste Management Rules
