Retail chicken shops across Telangana, including nearly 50,000 in Hyderabad, have announced an indefinite strike starting April 1. Shop owners allege that monopolistic practices by large poultry integrators have reduced their profit margins drastically.
Skinless chicken, which was priced at Rs.220 to Rs.240 per kg just two weeks ago, has now reached Rs.300 per kg in several parts of the erstwhile Warangal district.
