Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay expanded the state's crop loan waiver scheme, raising the full waiver limit from Rs 50,000 to Rs 75,000 for cooperative bank loans. The revised package will benefit 14.43 lakh farmers at an estimated cost of Rs 5,932 crore

The CM wrote that such amendments were against the basic principles of the very idea of cooperatives.
