Darwin Nunez gave Liverpool the lead in the 20th minute after a quick counter-attack following an Aston Villa corner. Mohamed Salah drove the ball forward and set up Nunez, who scored with a shot over goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez from a tight angle.

Jota's goal in the 31st minute gave Liverpool the lead on Saturday night, but Dara O'Shea equalized for Burnley just before halftime.
