The Democratic Republic of the Congo's Ebola outbreak has reached 550 confirmed cases and 101 deaths. Health officials report rising infections in Ituri and North Kivu, strained laboratory capacity, low contact-tracing rates, and continued transmission risks amid displacement and cross-border population movements
According to the latest data, 11 health zones in Kinshasa have been impacted, with more than 5,000 people displaced. At least 72 people have died, and 170 others have been injured due to torrential rains and resulting floods, Xinhua news agency reported.
The equator provides the necessary temperatures (of above 64 degrees) and average rainfall (at least 66 inches per year) for tropical plants and animals to thrive.
