The West Bengal government has directed districts to establish ‘holding centres’ for suspected Bangladeshi and Rohingya infiltrators. Under new guidelines, detainees can be held for 30 days for verification before possible deportation, as part of the Centre-backed “detect, delete and deport” policy
The UK has added India to its expanded “Deport Now Appeal Later” list, enabling deportation of convicted foreign nationals before appeals are heard. The policy aims to speed removals, with offenders able to join hearings remotely from their home countries.
