The research indicates that both being a victim of cyberbullying and perpetrating cyberbullying are associated with the high risk of experiencing eating disorder symptoms, such as worrying about gaining weight, tying one's self-worth to weight, binge eating, and distress with binge eating.
The number of under-20 admitted for eating disorders, such as bulimia and anorexia, in the last year topped 3,200 - nearly 50 per cent higher than in 2019-20, the BBC reported, citing data from data from NHS Digital.

"We can't say for certain that Covid-19 is responsible for this increase in behaviour associated with eating disorders," said researcher Mike Trott, from Anglia Ruskin University (ARU).
