In a letter to employees, the Snapchat owner expressed concern over the rapidly evolving regulatory environment, noting that it continues to strain their team. He highlighted that new legislation worldwide could impose additional compliance burdens if they are grouped with other tech companies, despite the distinct design choices they made while building their service.
In a message to Snap employees, CEO Evan Spiegel acknowledged that several factors have evolved since they initially embarked on the AR Enterprise strategy.
"With 375 million daily active users (DAU) reported on January 31, we have now grown DAU by +15 per cent year-over-year for 13 consecutive quarters," the company said in a statement.
The job cuts at Snap were coming after the company posted disastrous quarterly results (Q2) amid poor future forecast. Snap suffered nearly $10 billion loss and its shares hit a new 52-week low.
