BRS leader T Jeevan Reddy accused the Congress government of underutilising the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme despite adequate Godavari water availability. He urged immediate operation of the Kannepalli pump house and defended the previous BRS government's decision to shift the barrage site to Medigadda.
Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy said Telangana will prioritise drinking water over irrigation until June next year amid deficient rainfall. Farmers have been advised to avoid water-intensive crops, while the Kaleshwaram barrages will remain non-operational pending scientific clearance.
BRS working president KT Rama Rao accused the Congress government of worsening Telangana's agrarian crisis by refusing to utilise the Kaleshwaram project despite adequate Godavari water. He alleged political vendetta, highlighted farmers' distress and reaffirmed the BRS's commitment to hamali workers' welfare.
