A wanted criminal accused of raping and murdering a minor boy was killed in a police encounter in Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh. The accused opened fire during arrest, prompting retaliation, while a police officer was injured in the operation

Police said they were in a relationship against the wishes of their family members. No suicide note has been recovered from them, they said.

According to the police sources, the victim, identified as Sunil Kumar, was thrown from the roof of the building where the function was being held, by his friend Avanish Kumar following an argument.
