Heavy monsoon rains in Himachal Pradesh have destroyed over 1,500 homes and partially damaged 6,503 others, killing 417 people. With losses exceeding Rs 4,500 crore, landslides, floods and road blockages continue to disrupt normal life across the hill state.

Himachal Pradesh faces widespread disruption due to heavy rainfall, with schools closed in Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Una, and Solan, 484 roads blocked, and damage to power and water supply infrastructure.

According to officials, more than 250 people from landslide-affected areas have been shifted to safe places in the last three days.

In light of the unfortunate situation, the state has decided not to hold any cultural festivities for Independence Day.
