Milton made landfall Wednesday night on Florida's west-central coast as a Category 3 storm, but had already unleashed numerous tornadoes in advance. Forecasters have since downgraded Milton to a Category 1, predicting it will exit Florida by Thursday morning, with weather conditions expected to gradually improve.
The Europa Clipper mission was scheduled to launch on October 10 from NASA Kennedy’s Launch Complex 39A in Florida, aboard SpaceX's Falcon Heavy rocket, to conduct an in-depth investigation of Jupiter's icy moon Europa. However, with Hurricane Milton approaching the storm-battered Gulf Coast, a state of emergency has been declared in parts of Florida, causing a delay in the mission.
