The Hyderabad Bird Atlas will begin a dedicated survey of house crows from July 4 amid concerns over their declining numbers in the city. Volunteers will document the species' population, habitat and behaviour across 180 locations within the Outer Ring Road.

The third season of the Hyderabad Bird Atlas will begin on February 7, inviting volunteers to map bird diversity within the city’s ORR limits. Organisers expect higher participation as the citizen science initiative continues to document migration and habitat changes.
During Dasara, poachers capture the Indian Roller (Palapitta), Telangana’s state bird, to display at temples, causing high mortality. Experts warn that captivity is fatal, with nearly half dying. Citizens are urged to report cases to AWCS or Forest Department authorities.
