The Telangana High Court issued contempt notices to HMDA Commissioner and other officials after a petition alleged illegal demolitions in Ameenpur mandal despite prior court orders restraining interference.
The residents, many of whom have lived in their homes for decades, expressed their frustration at being labeled as encroachers despite having valid approvals and registrations.
Justice K Lakshman directed the agency to adhere to legal procedures before demolishing structures identified as illegal. The judge also voiced concern over possible discrimination in HYDRA's approach, stating that it could not go and demolish structures 'just like that'.
