Indian weightlifter Usha topped Group D with a 212kg total in the women’s 61kg competition at the IWF World Championships. Nirupama Devi finished fourth in Group C with 211kg, as both awaited the final rankings after Group A.
Mirabai Chanu ended a 12-year wait for an Asian Games medal by winning silver in the women’s 49kg weightlifting event in Nagoya. She totalled 198kg, while North Korea’s Ri Song Gum won gold with a record-breaking 215kg
