The Finance Ministry has notified 100 per cent foreign direct investment (FDI) in the insurance sector under the automatic route, allowing overseas investors full ownership in insurance companies and intermediaries such as brokers. In the first paperless Union Budget, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman also said investor charter would be introduced as a right of all financial investors across all financial products.
