New Delhi will host the Asian Rifle/Pistol Championship 2027, awarding eight quota places for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics. This will be the second consecutive continental championship in India, giving shooters home advantage ahead of two major events next year.
Eight Indian shooters, including Manu Bhaker, Suruchi Singh, and Sift Kaur Samra, have qualified for the ISSF World Cup Final 2025 in Doha. India secured spots in five events, reflecting one of its strongest international shooting campaigns with 22 medals overall.
NRAI President Kalikesh Singh Deo has been appointed Interim Chairperson of the ISSF Committee on E-Sports and Innovations. The role strengthens India’s global influence in shooting sports and supports tech-driven developments like e-shooting and the upcoming Shooting League of India.
India secured the top spot in the medal tally after day one of the competition, winning two gold medals. Romania and Chinese Taipei claimed the two individual golds available, while five other nations also earned medals on the first day.
Rahi topped the podium in style as she scored an amazing 39 pts in the final, just one point shy from equalling the world record. She was also 8 points ahead of the silver medalist.
Rahi Sarnobat bagged the silver medal while Manu Bhaker had to settle for bronze.
Earlier in the day, Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar clinched the gold medal in the men's 50m rifle 3 positions event.
"One shooter has tested COVID positive just before the start of ISSF Shooting World Cup, the player has been shifted to the hospital and his roommate has also been isolated," Rajeev Bhatia, the secretary of the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI)
