Climate activist Sonam Wangchuk was released from Jodhpur Central Jail after the Union government revoked his detention under the National Security Act. He had been held since September 2025 following protests in Leh over Ladakh’s statehood and Sixth Schedule demands.
The Supreme Court on Tuesday adjourned to October 15 the hearing on a plea by climate activist Sonam Wangchuk’s wife, Gitanjali J Angmo, challenging his detention under the National Security Act and seeking his immediate release, citing paucity of time.
