Speaking to the mediapersons at Ooty on Monday, Raja said he apologised to Palaniswami if his remarks had hurt him.

The CM, who is also the AIADMK co-coordinator, has won from Edappadi four times (1989, 91, 2011 and 2016) and the region is among the strongholds of the ruling party.

Owing to the heavy rains last month, a total of 6,62,689 hectares of agricultural crops besides 18,645 hectares of horticultural crops were damaged, the chief minister said.

Speaking at the event Palaniswami said it was the AIADMK government that brought back the sport after it was banned.

The Chief Minister said the government's decision comes after 95 per cent of the parents had expressed in favour of reopening of the schools.

In a statement issued here, Palaniswami said owing to Covid-19 pandemic, the colleges are holding online classes for students.
