The Andhra Pradesh Health Department has confirmed the detection of the Omicron RF.5 sub-lineage in four Covid-19 samples from Kadapa district through genome sequencing at a Pune laboratory. Officials emphasized that RF.5 is not more dangerous than other Omicron variants.
