Former Minister G Jagadish Reddy demanded that the Telangana government resume Kannepalli pumping operations and release irrigation water through the Nagarjuna Sagar left canal. He also criticised the government’s irrigation policy and alleged political differences over Kaleshwaram
BRS leader T Harish Rao urged the Telangana government to operate Kaleshwaram pumps at Kannepalli and fill interconnected reservoirs to support farmers during Kharif. He sought pumping from Mid Manair to the Lower Manair Dam and utilisation of Godavari floodwater.
The BRS accused the Congress government of worsening irrigation and drinking water shortages by refusing to operate the Kannepalli pump house despite adequate Godavari flows. Party MLAs offered to accept responsibility if any issue arose after pumping operations resumed.
The Telangana Retired Engineers Association has claimed that Kannepalli, Annaram and Sundilla pumps can be operated safely with proper procedures. It said flood flows in the Pranahita could enable water lifting through the system without causing damage if monitored carefully.
