Protests have erupted across Tamil Nadu against the Vijay Deverakonda-starrer Telugu film ‘Kingdom’. The film, released on July 31, has drawn criticism from Tamil nationalist groups, particularly Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK), for allegedly portraying Sri Lankan Tamils negatively.
Set in the 90s, Kingdom follows a constable’s undercover mission to find his brother in Sri Lanka. With clean action, emotions and stylish making, it ends as a solid family watch.
While the postponement of both films had left fans disappointed, the back-to-back releases promise to make up for the wait with a cinematic celebration.
The film has been in the making for quite some time, and though the makers started promotions months ago by releasing a teaser and a few songs, the release date was kept under wraps until now.
On Sunday, the actor took to Instagram to share a series of pictures of himself relaxing in the airport lounge before his flight. He revealed that he was heading to Sri Lanka to film a song sequence for his upcoming movie. In the caption, he wrote, “Off again to the #Kingdom of Lanka Shooting love songs. Wearing the madcool #RWDY Summer flannels :) Will be available to you all soon for shopping.”
