The High Court on Wednesday sharply criticized police officials over the arrest of former Kodangal MLA Patnam Narender Reddy in connection with the Lagacherla incident. The court raised serious concerns about the manner in which the arrest was carried out, particularly asking whether the police considered Reddy to be a 'terrorist' given the circumstances of his detention.
Speaking to the media outside the jail, Harish Rao called the remand report "atrocious." He stated that Narender Reddy was unaware of the grounds for his arrest mentioned in the report, as he was made to sign it at the last minute before leaving the magistrate and wasn't allowed to review it. Reddy was shocked to read about the report’s contents in the newspapers this morning.
After several hours of questioning at the Parigi police station, Narender Reddy was produced before court, where he was remanded in judicial custody for 14 days and then shifted to prison.
