The Gujarat government will implement the Love Jihad Act soon, Chief Minister Vijay Rupani said.

Uwaish Ahmad was booked under the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Ordinance, 2020, for "threatening to kidnap" and convert a 20-year-old married woman.

"The enacted or proposed laws of some state governments will be struck down as unconstitutional," he said.

Owaisi had earlier said that the BJP was trying to bring laws against 'love jihad' as they were unable to solve problems like unemployment and joblessness

He said marriage is a matter of personal liberty and bringing a law to curb it is unconstitutional. It will not stand scrutiny in any court of law, he added.
