Maitri Setu must herald a new chapter for trade and iron out the irritants between India and Bangladesh

In a video message played at the event, Bangladeshi Prime Minister Hasina hailed the inauguration of the "Maitri Setu" as a "historic moment".

The construction was taken up by the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd at a project cost of Rs. 133 crore.
