Farmers staged a rasta roko in Mancherial district demanding speedy procurement of paddy and highlighting hardships faced at procurement centres. Tension also erupted in Chennur mandal after Congress cadres stopped BRS activists from inspecting rain-drenched paddy stocks.
A Rs 1.39 crore paddy procurement scam in Jaipur mandal, Mancherial, has led investigators to suspect the involvement of Civil Supplies officials. The fraud, involving forged records and collusion with traders, has already resulted in arrests and suspension of a police inspector.
