Due to lack of availability of solar equipment on time, there is inordinate delay in implementation of Central schemes related to rooftop solar plants and other projects in the State as well.
To qualify for the scheme, villages must be designated as revenue villages with populations over 5,000, or 2,000 in special category states. The ministry explained that the selection process is competitive, with villages evaluated based on their distributed renewable energy capacity installed six months after being identified as potential candidates by the District Level Committee (DLC)
