Panic has spread across several villages in Kagaznagar forest division of Asifabad after tiger pug marks were spotted in cotton fields. Forest officials have advised caution, deployed trackers, and raised awareness programmes as farmers fear for their safety during harvesting
According to the procedure, villagers are advised not to use forest footpaths. They are also not to raise objections to gates set up by the Forest department along routes passing through forests. They have to engage in far activities only in groups of at least eight to 10 persons and have to be escorted by a sentry. Farmers have to stand guard over their crops only by staying on a machan and not on the ground.
Sources said that Morle Laxmi (21) from Gannaram village died on the spot after a tiger attacked her while she was picking cotton balls in a farm on the outskirts of Nazrulnagar at around 8 am
