Ten people died and several were injured after a bus returning from CM Mohan Yadav’s programme collided with a garlic-laden truck in Chhindwara. Speeding and negligent overtaking caused the mishap.

The bus, carrying 22 passengers, was heading towards Sagar from Bhopal.

Two women, identified as Nandani Fazal Khan (20) and Rupali Asrathe (36), died in the mishap.

Prima facie, 44 passengers were travelling on the bus at the time of the accident, which occurred around 8:30 AM.

Umesh Joga, Inspector General (Rewa zone) said at least seven persons swam to safety after the bus landed into the canal near Patna village.
