Tension gripped parts of Narsapur municipality after BRS workers objected to the alleged distribution of cash by Congress leaders soon after polling began. Heated arguments and scuffles involving BJP and BRS workers prompted police intervention to restore order.
The BRS has appointed in-charges for all 17 municipalities in the erstwhile Medak district to spearhead its campaign for the upcoming municipal elections. Sangareddy district president Chintha Prabhakar announced the appointments, which were finalised by party working president KT Rama Rao and former minister T. Harish Rao in consultation with district leaders.
Medak MP M. Raghunandan Rao has stirred controversy by urging BJP cadres in Narsapur to distribute Rs 1,000 per vote, focusing on women voters ahead of the municipal elections. Opposition parties in Narsapur reacted sharply, accusing him of encouraging unethical practices during the campaign.
