The IT Ministry was informed that certain portals were exposing sensitive personal data. In response, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) filed a complaint with local police for violating Section 29(4) of the Aadhaar (Targeted Delivery of Financial and Other Subsidies, Benefits and Services) Act, 2016, which prohibits the public display of Aadhaar information.
