Hyderabad: Muharram sends a message of brotherhood, human dignity and supreme sacrifice, said Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Thursday. In his message the Chief Minister said the martyrdom of Imam Hussain, the grandson of Prophet Muhammad, has a unifying message of upholding human dignity and justice.

People do night-long prayer meetings, marches and parades involving large crowds and community meals in mosques and other community buildings.

Milad-un-Nabi marks the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad and it is observed in the month of Rabi' al-awwal, the third month in the Islamic calendar.
