China welcomed Vladimir Putin’s India visit, stressing that China, Russia and India are key Global South partners whose cooperation supports regional and global stability. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar said India-Russia ties have remained among the steadiest major relationships for decades and Putin’s visit was aimed at reimagining economic cooperation. He dismissed concerns of US displeasure, stressing strategic autonomy and national interest-driven diplomacy
Shashi Tharoor rejected speculation of leaving the Congress after criticism over his presence at President Putin’s state banquet. While AICC leaders expressed displeasure, Tharoor said he attended in his official capacity and remains focused on serving his constituency.
