A 6.1-magnitude earthquake struck western Türkiye’s Balikesir province on Monday night, injuring 22 people and causing previously damaged buildings to collapse in Sindirgi. Authorities reported no deaths but opened shelters as residents stayed outdoors fearing aftershocks.
A total of eight quakes jolted the state since Wednesday night and all originated in and around Tezpur, the National Centre for Seismology (NCS) said in its bulletin.
