Food inflation stood at 5.26 per cent last month against 4.78 per cent in April 2021 and 5.88 per cent in the corresponding month a year ago.
Across the country as well, the petrol and diesel price prices remained static on Thursday but its actual retail prices varied depending on the level of local levies in respective states.
Premium petrol price has already crossed the Rs 100 per litre mark in several parts of the country through increase in the retail rates in the month of January and February.
Petrol prices in some states have breached the Rs 100 per litre mark while premium petrol has been hovering above that level for quite some time now.
