External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand in Manila and discussed advancing bilateral ties. He also held separate meetings with counterparts from the US, Russia, Australia and Singapore during the ASEAN framework discussions.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said India-Russia relations go beyond oil trade, describing them as a “particularly privileged strategic partnership”. He stressed respect for India’s independent foreign policy while rejecting US pressure over oil purchases during remarks at the UN.
