The film festival will pay homage to the late star by screening his cult classic 'Paan Singh Tomar' on Friday. Indian film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the news on his Twitter handle.
"Soumitra Chatterjee .. an iconic legend .. one of the mightiest pillars of the Film Industry, .. has fallen .. a gentle soul and abundant talent .. last met him at the IFFI in Kolkata .. Prayers," Bachchan wrote on Twitter.
"We declare with heavy heart that Shri Soumitra Chattopadhyay breathed his last at 12.15 p.m. at Belle Vue Clinic today (15 November 2020). We pay our homage to his soul," the bulletin from Kolkata's Belle Vue Hospital said.
