Dinesh Sharma was sworn in as the 14th lieutenant governor of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands at a ceremony in Sri Vijaya Puram. Calcutta High Court Chief Justice Ravindra Vithalrao Ghuge administered the oath of office and secrecy.
Vice President C P Radhakrishnan began a two-day visit to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, where he will participate in Har Ghar Tiranga events and the 150th anniversary commemoration of Vande Mataram. He will also visit Cellular Jail and Netaji Island
