The Bombay High Court granted bail to former Delhi University professor Hany Babu, citing over five years of incarceration without trial in the Elgar Parishad case. The NIA’s request to stay the order was rejected as the trial remains far from completion.
The Maoist Central Committee official spokesperson, Abhay in a statement released to the media here on Thursday said the party was grieved and shocked to learn about the death of Swamy.
Swamy, who was arrested last year under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) in connection with the Elgar Parishad-Maoist links case, died at a Mumbai hospital on Monday.
