The cash-strapped Congress government has approved restoration of "Special Excise Cess (SEC)" of Rs 10 per 180 ml size bottle and proportionately for higher sizes on all categories liquor with effect from May 18
The State government plans to raise liquor prices by 10-15% from Monday, expecting Rs.130-150 crore monthly revenue. Prices may increase by Rs.40-60 per bottle; cheap liquor prices might remain unchanged
Following the fallout, UBL, which has been producing Kingfisher and Heineken beers, stopped production as they seized the supply of these two beers. The employees staged a protest at Sangareddy collectorate on Friday under the leadership of CITU and demanded their immediate reinstatement
