UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres condoled the Red Fort car explosion in Delhi, urging a full investigation. He also condemned the Islamabad suicide attack. India rejected Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif’s claims linking the attacks, calling them baseless.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres welcomed the Gaza ceasefire deal brokered by the US, saying it offers a path to a two-state solution. He urged all parties to honour the agreement and ensure humanitarian access, calling the peace effort a “momentous opportunity.”
Guterres will be on an official visit to India from October 18-20, 2022. This will be UNSG's first visit to India, since he commenced his second term in office in January 2022.
He was received at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport by India's Permanent Representative at the UN Ruchira Kamboj, Maharashtra Chief Secretary M.K. Shrivastava, and protocol head Manisha Mhaiskar.
