Motorists have criticised the sharp increase in vehicle registration number charges after the RTA revised its fee structure. With higher reservation costs and no guarantee of allocation, many say the new system adds financial burden and reduces interest in fancy numbers.

Two-wheeler sales also witnessed a decline of 53 per cent at 4,10,757 units last month, as compared to 8,65,134 units in April.

Passenger vehicles (PV) registrations were at 23,86,316 units last fiscal, as against 27,73,514 units in FY20, down 13.96 per cent

As per the data, dealer inventory continues to fall with personal vehicles' inventory ranging from 15-20 days and two-wheelers' inventory from 30-35 days.
