Authorities have called off the four-day search for six fishermen missing off the Visakhapatnam coast after their boat capsized. With no trace of the men found, they have been presumed dead, and the Andhra Pradesh government announced Rs 10 lakh ex gratia for each family.
One of the seven fishermen reported missing off the Visakhapatnam coast has been rescued safely, while search operations continue for the remaining six. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu reviewed the rescue efforts and directed officials to intensify the multi-agency operation.
Nine fishermen from Andhra Pradesh returned to Visakhapatnam after being released from a Bangladesh jail where they were detained for crossing maritime boundaries. Their return followed a reciprocal exchange of fishermen and boats between India and Bangladesh
