Three rose-ringed parakeets unlawfully confined by fortune-tellers near Appalayagunta Temple in Tirupati were rescued by forest officials after a PETA India complaint.
Forest officials arrested a man in Andhra Pradesh's Kurnool district for brutally killing two protected Russell’s Vipers and unlawfully trapping a hare. The arrest followed swift intervention by PETA India and Sanghamitra Animal Foundation. A non-bailable wildlife case was registered.
The workshop aimed to empower forest officers with the knowledge and skills to effectively address wildlife crimes (like illegal trade, hunting and poaching) and human-animal conflict.
