AIMIM leader Irmiya staged a dramatic protest at the Zaheerabad Municipal Office by slapping himself with his chappal, alleging that municipal authorities failed to resolve basic civic issues in the 8th ward despite repeated representations to officials and elected representatives.
Voting began slowly in Sangareddy and Zaheerabad municipalities, recording around 25 per cent polling by 11 am. Cheriyal and Gaddapotharam reported higher turnout. Minor scuffles broke out in some municipalities, but polling largely proceeded smoothly.
During a review meeting held recently, the Collector directed the staff to ensure 100 per cent tax collection from the citizens in their respective areas.
