Amaravati: Another Japanese Industrial Township is set to come up in Visakhapatnam, according to Industries, IT, Skill development and Training minister Mekapati Goutham Reddy.

Participating in a video conference on Japanese partnership from here on Thursday, he recalled that Andhra Pradesh had good relations with Japan since long and announced that a Japanese Enclave would be constructed in Visakhapatnam on ten lakh sq.ft. Special concessions would be provided to Japanese companies who leave China to invest in the state and a separate Japanese Desk had been set up for the purpose, he stated.


In this context, he said that already renowned Japanese companies like ATG Tires and Yokohama group were functioning in Andhra Pradesh. A training centre had been set up to provide employment and training for youth numbering 2,000 in the tyres sector alone, he added.
The minister said that the Japanese industrial township in SriCity had come up in a big way and now another Japanese industrial township was proposed as part of developing the Vizag-Chennai industrial corridor.

Already over 25 companies from Japan had invested in Andhra Pradesh, he pointed out, adding that the Vizag-Chennai corridor would be developed during the first phase of the 2500 km. long East Coast Economic Corridor which the Centre had proposed to develop in three stages.

Goutham Reddy disclosed that under the aegis of Japan International Cooperation Agency, and with the collaboration of National Industrial Corridor Development and Implementation based at Krishnapatnam, already Rs.1300 crore were allocated for the Chennai-Bangalore Industrial Corridor.
