Hyderabad: In the ongoing Covid vaccination drive, Karimnagar has become the first district in Telangana and second district in South India, after Bengaluru urban district, to reach the milestone of administering the second dose of Covid vaccine to 100 per cent of the eligible beneficiaries.
On Tuesday, the state health department completed administration of the second dose of the Covid vaccine to 7,94,404 beneficiaries in Karimnagar district, reaching the milestone of covering 100 per cent of eligible beneficiaries.
A few weeks ago, the health department had administered the first dose of the Covid vaccine to 8,27,103 individuals in Karimnagar district, which is 104 per cent of the targeted beneficiaries.
Health Minister T Harish Rao congratulated the health department and local health authorities for expediting the Covid vaccine administration drive in Telangana. “The Covid vaccine administration drive is underway at a fast clip in other districts of Telangana and hopefully, we will achieve the target set by Chief Minister, K Chandrashekhar Rao of reaching 100 per cent Covid vaccination in the entire state in the coming few days,” he said.
