Hyderabad: As many as 109 farmers will be ineligible for availing Rythu Bandhu scheme since Agriculture department disqualified them for facing cases for cultivating marijuana.
The list of 109 farmers was prepared by the Prohibition and Excise department after collecting relevant information from all the excise stations across the State. The cases were booked only after getting concrete information about the cultivation of marijuana followed by raids carried out in the fields. “We booked cases under provisions of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act even if farmers cultivated marijuana in smaller quantities,” the official said.
He said the department has taken a serious note of the sale and purchase of marijuana and other narcotic substances in the State.
