Bulandshahr (UP): The body of an 11-year-old schoolgirl, who was swept away in a drain during heavy rain earlier this week, was recovered from the Kali river here on Saturday, officials said. Charu Kashyap, a Class 4 student of Sushila Public School, had fallen into a drain in the Kotwali Nagar area while returning from school on July 28 and was washed away, they said.

Her father had lodged a complaint accusing the school management of negligence, officials said. Teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Flood PAC and the district administration had been searching for the girl since the incident.

She was recovered approximately one kilometre away from the spot where she had fallen into the drain. Additional District Magistrate (Administration) Nitish Kumar Singh said the body has been sent for post-mortem examination.
