Adilabad: Twelve families have been allegedly ostracized by elders of a community at Khodad village in Talamadugu mandal on Monday. While it was not clear as to why the action was initiated, sources said the families were socially boycotted from the fishermen following a row over sharing fish produce of a tank. They were prohibited to attend weddings, funerals and other social functions. “Two groups from the community were at loggerheads over this issue for quite a long time. A group intentionally ostracized the other group,” a resident said.
When asked, Talamadugu head constable Venkat Rao told ‘Telangana Today’ that no complaint was lodged with regard to the social boycott of 12 families. He, however, stated that a team of policemen would be sent to the village and would inquire into the incident. He stated that stringent action would be taken against those who were found involved in such acts.
